Jan-Philipp’s practice has its roots in his childhood. He played sports all the way into college and experienced several injuries. He had to learn to be patient with my body and adapt to changes in his life. Yoga transformed me because it showed him he had the ability to focus his awareness on what is happening internally between the mind, body, and spirit. He saw that by changing his thoughts, his words and his actions he could improve the quality of his life in all aspects. His practice was shaped by the teachings passed on to him from Swami Satchidananda and Sri. K Patthabi Jois. Furthermore, Yogi Bhajan from the Kundalini Yoga tradition and other great Gurus have inspired him to share what he has learned about Yoga. To me, Yoga is Yoga Sutra 1.2. Yogas–citta-vrtti-nirodhah. Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind.
He teaches physically demanding classes that incorporate a unique mixture of techniques and practices from the different traditions of Yoga. He focuses on alignment and strength building while still fully stretching the body. He aims to create a safe and fun space for individuals to explore Yoga and learn about its many limbs. He works well with large groups and in private settings. He is experienced with rehabilitation techniques for people with injuries and like to explain the anatomical reasons for my sequencing. He has been teaching different styles of Yoga for 3+ years.
